Lessons from the AFCON 2023
Little known Equatorial Guinea defeated notre belle famille, La Côte d'Ivoire by four goals to zero in the group stages. Côte d'Ivoire appointed a new coach, changed their strategy (#WeMove) and today they are qualified for the finals. The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory!
So, if Chevening 2024 did throw stones at you, change your strategy, and re-affirm your heroism as you steadily steer your destiny sheep to the shores of triumph. One of my best worship songs has always been, “With Christ in the vessel, I will smile at the storm”. Hence, sail on, with some good measure of confidence in your ability to thrive. Move oAnd never underestimate the potential of any member of the Open Dreams community to provide relevant ideas which can help you get over – never underestimate the resources at your disposal. Côte d'Ivoire switched from a world-class coach to a relatively unknown entity – they are now AFCON trophy hopefuls!
As you analyze each match and judge the number of *shots on target*, ask yourself how many shots on target you made to boost your future – how many scholarship applications have you submitted? How many grants applications have you submitted? How many meaningful real-life shots on target have you made which can lead to you standing out or making a difference in the community?
Let the football (spirit) in our life play right and may we enjoy the euphoria and the effervescence of the football pitch each time we hit the target in our life.
